Step 1: What Kind Of Shaft Does a Traction Platform Elevator Use?

Traction platform elevators typically feature a shaft made of a stainless steel or aluminum alloy frame combined with glass. Thanks to their integrated mechanical structure, these elevators are usually sold as a complete package that includes the shaft.

The biggest advantage of this design is its exceptional space efficiency. With a minimum shaft size of just 850mm in width and 1100mm in depth, it is perfectly suited for self-occupied homes with limited space or renovation projects in older houses.

Step 2: Choosing the Platform
Due to space constraints, platform elevators rarely feature a fully enclosed cabin, as cabins take up more room. Instead, they are predominantly designed as open platforms to transport passengers between floors. Below are different platform models for your reference.

Step 3: Door Limitations and Opening Methods

Due to the structural design of platform elevators, traditional automatic telescopic doors cannot be used. Instead, these elevators primarily feature swing doors that open outward.

They can be configured as a single door opening to one side, or as double doors opening from the center. Additionally, these doors can be operated either manually or automatically.

Step 4: Ceiling and Flooring Options, as well as Overhead and Pit Requirements
Traction platform elevators have relatively low requirements for overhead clearance and pit depth.
An overhead height of just 2500 to 2600 mm is sufficient, and a pit depth of only 100 mm is all that is needed.
Below are various ceiling and flooring designs and materials for your selection.
