Step 1: Residential Elevator Shaft Selection

Brick-Concrete Shaft

It is recommended to incorporate the residential elevator shaft into the overall planning during the initial construction phase of the house, thereby avoiding the encroachment on indoor space caused by adding a shaft later. Among the various options, the Brick-Concrete Shaft with Ring Beams is the most common, offering both cost-effectiveness and durability.

During construction, it is advisable to allow for more generous dimensions (e.g., 1.5m × 1.5m). This proactive measure fundamentally mitigates potential issues arising from an undersized shaft, such as restricted door opening sizes, cramped cabin space, and stringent installation requirements.

Glass Shaft

The "Stainless Steel-Glass" and "Aluminum Alloy-Glass" hoistways are typically referred to as integrated sightseeing elevator shafts. These structures consist of a metal framework serving as the load-bearing support, combined with high-strength laminated tempered glass acting as the enclosure and sealing material. Widely used in villas, self-built houses, and retrofitting projects for existing buildings, they create a sophisticated and luxurious ambiance when installed indoors. Furthermore, these hoistways are equally suitable for outdoor elevators, offering both indoor-outdoor versatility and aesthetic appeal that can be flexibly chosen based on actual site conditions.
Additionally, this type of integrated sightseeing hoistway is particularly well-suited for homeowners who did not allocate a civil engineering shaft during the initial construction phase but plan to install an elevator later. Utilizing a modular assembly process, the installation requires no wet work such as cement masonry, thereby keeping the interior environment maximally clean and truly delivering a dust-free, low-noise, and convenient installation experience.
Step 2: Home Elevators Mostly Installed Without Machine Rooms

MRL

Residential elevators differ fundamentally from commercial passenger elevators in terms of standards.

Given that self-built houses are generally under six stories and, unlike high-rise commercial developments, typically do not have pre-allocated machine rooms, a machine-room-less (MRL) configuration can be assumed as the default when selecting a system.

Step 4: Cabin Decoration Selection

Stainless Steel Cabin

The Stainless Steel Cabin is the most classic and widely used interior finish for both residential and commercial elevators. Typically crafted from high-quality 304 or 316 stainless steel sheets, it boasts exceptional physical strength, along with outstanding corrosion and abrasion resistance.

This ensures that the cabin remains resistant to rust and deformation over long-term use, even in humid environments.

Glass Cabin

The Glass Cabin is a popular choice for modern high-end elevator interiors, widely used in scenic areas, commercial complexes, and luxury residences seeking a sophisticated ambiance. Renowned for its exceptional transparency and aesthetic appeal, the cabin features a robust structural design where the glass does not bear weight independently.

Instead, it is securely mounted within specialized high-strength aluminum alloy or stainless steel frames, perfectly balancing elegance with stability.

Modern Style Residential Cabin

The Modern Style Residential Cabin is currently one of the most popular elevator interior trends in high-end villas and self-built homes. Moving away from the ornate carvings and heavy metallic feel of traditional elevators, it embraces the "less is more" design philosophy, perfectly blending minimalist aesthetics with practical functionality.

In terms of material selection, modern styles not only retain classic brushed stainless steel but also extensively incorporate new materials such as tech wood veneers, sintered stone, leather upholstery, and smart dimmable glass, greatly enriching the texture and visual depth of the space.
